I distinctly remember when I was a child drawing myself as someone I'd rather be or someone I wanted to be. Sometimes it was me, but somewhere else. It's a funny thing that no one ever questioned that. But, I think it said a lot for where I was as a child. The things I dealt with. What I saw. Heard.
What's the first thing you remember creating?
I remember in almost every picture I drew of myself when I was young I wore blue jeans and a red shirt. Also, I always started with my shoes and worked my way up so that I almost always had giant legs and had a tiny torso that I had to squeeze into the last bit of remaining paper. I don't think I really even liked the color red or even had a red shirt. Subconsciously I think I wanted to be more like Optimus Prime.
ReplyDeletei don't recall what i first drew. however, i do remember the first word i knew how to spell. it was cake. i think that says something about me. i like cake.
ReplyDeleteIts silly I had to use AIM in order to comment on this...
ReplyDeleteIts a well known story in my home that when i was very little (3ish) i would color pictures using dark colors filling the whole page. When asked what the picture was I would respond that the picture was "in my moms tummy... you know the womb".
Actively, I remember when i moved into my new house I took My blue water colors to the room beneath the stairs in the basement and proceeded to pain the white walls all blue. My reasoning was that i liked the ocean and i thought i belonged there.
I've always been a pirate.
My parents let me keep a little bit... its still there. The rest is back to white.
Love you!
